Rose Bank Cottage, Vale View, Coniston

Rose Bank is in the heart of the Lake District fells, with commanding views from its elevated position of Coniston Water, the Tilberthwaite fells and Grizedale forest on the opposite ridge.

This former quarryman's cottage was built about 1850 by The Coniston Copper Company and along with its neighbouring cottages retains many original features. The lanes to this cottage were, of course, originally built for horses and carts and are steep and narrow, but quite suitable, with care, for the motor cars of today. The fantastic views from the cottage make the climb worthwhile, whilst you can walk to all the local amenities and up into the higher fells at the back. This mid terraced cottage has been refurbished with 2 en-suite shower/bathrooms, gas central heating and other modern comforts whilst retaining many traditional features which give it character.

Downstairs is one main room with a sitting room area with log burning fire, colour TV and broadband wi-fi and a new dining kitchen with cooker having an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer dryer.

Upstairs, Bedroom 1 with its lake views has a double bed and en-suite shower room and w.c., whilst Bedroom 2 with king size bed (or twin single 2'6" beds) has an en-suite bathroom with shower and w.c.

Outside, across the lane, there is a terraced garden with steps, shrubs and garden furniture.

The cottage at Coniston has been completely renovated to a 4* standard, and is available for booking through an agency - Coppermines Cottages, who can be contacted through their website http://www.coppermines.co.uk or by phone 015394-41765 (please ask for Rose Bank Cottage).
